Blair's Run 2013

Blair’s Run

www.cabbagetownyouth.ca
Blair’s run has been part of the Cabbagetown Festival for 34 years. It is a short run, jog or walk around the neighbourhood that raises funds for the Cabbagetown Youth Centre (CYC). The CYC was founded in 1972 as the Cabbagetown Boxing Club to provide at- risk youth with positive examples through sport and recreation, while encouraging ongoing education. Over the past 40 years, the CYC has expanded to meet the growing needs of the community to provide a range of recreational, social and skill development programs for all age. CYC’s mandate is to provide barrier-free access to programs otherwise not available to these children, youth and families.

Everyone from 2 to 80+ can do the run. This year it is the opening event of the festival so be sure to come out and cheer on the runners. Teams compete for fastest runners trophy and most fundraising. The fundraising trophy was won in 2012 by Wellesley St and in 2011 by Sword St. The Cabbagetown Boxing club has taken the fastest team trophy for several years so get your teams out and give them a serious challenge!!!!
If your street does not have a team contact us to set one up. It is easy and a fun way to get to know your neighbours. kmtully@sympatico.ca
Local businesses support the run with great prizes, donations and a breakfast from Daniel et Daniel. Check out the posters around the neighbourhood to see all the wonderful sponsors.
Watch for notices from your team captain or register race day at 8.30 at Carlton and Parliament. The entry fee is $20 and gets you breakfast and a T-shirt.
The race starts at 9.30 at the corner of Parliament and Carlton. Awards begin at 10.20 on the TD Main Stage.

Come out to run or cheer. See you there!!!

Community Stage Entertainment

This year, the Cabbagetown Festival of the Arts introduces a Community Stage in front of the Esso Gas Station on Parliament St. (581 Parliament St.).

We have invited our local artists to showcase their talents on stage for all of Toronto to see.
Performers from the Cabbagetown Youth Centre, the Toronto Christian Resource Centre, St. James Town Youth, and UforChange, will be putting their skills on display both days of the festival on Saturday, September 7th and Sunday, September 8th.

We are celebrating the magnificent talent that our great community possesses and embracing the differences that unite us through the arts.
Come watch the wonderful performances we have prepared for you.
